The Detroit Red Wings were doubled up by the Columbus Blue Jackets last night (4-2).  Gustav Nyquist scored both goals for the Red Wings and Jimmy Howard stopped 24 shots.  Detroit will host Montreal tomorrow night at the Joe. 

The Tigers lost to the Atlanta Braves (12-3) yestereday in Lakeland.  Starter Rick Porcello was tagged for 6 runs on 10 hits, including two home runs, while striking out five in six innings in his final appearance of Spring Training.  Alex Gonzalez, in his debut at shortstop for Detroit, went one-for-three at the plate with an RBI.  Justin Verlander gets his final start before Opening Day against the Phillies this afternoon in Clearwater.  First pitch is 1:05pm. 

The Pistons return from a four-game road trip to host the Cleveland Cavaliers tonight at the Palace.  Game time is 7:30pm. 

A local media outlet is reporting this morning that the Detroit Pistons will become the third Detroit major-league franchise with a minor-league affiliate in the Grand Rapids area when an NBA Development League team moves here next season.  An agreement has been reached for undisclosed local owners to purchase the Springfield (Mass.) Armor and relocate the team.  The new Grand Rapids franchise has an undisclosed agreement with the Pistons in place, and the team will play its home games at the DeltaPlex. 

Finally, the 7th. annual 'Champions of Character' College All-Star games will take place tonight at Davenport University's Student Athletic Center.  This will be the college farewell game for great stars like Wes Hudson of Cornerstone University, JaVontae Ford of Davenport University and Taylor Johnson of Central Michigan University.  The women's game tips off at 6pm...Men at 7:30pm....Tickets are $5 per person or $15 (max) for families, and a portion of the money raised will go to benefit the "Champions of Character Lecturing Initiative" to OK-Conference schools.  The Men's game will also be broadcast live right here on ESPN 96.1 by Rick Berkey and Bob Sack with coverage beginning at 7pm.
